Preparatory Meeting for the Satellite-derived Agrometeorological Data Training with JAXA/ISRO/GISTDA

On the 21 st April 2022, AFSIS Secretariat had attended the virtual preparatory meeting which was conducted by the Space Applications for Environment (SAFE) Executive Board coordinated by the Co-Chairs Dr. Shantanau Bhatawdekar from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Dr. Shin-ichi Sobue from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for the training program on "Satellite-derived Agrometeorological Data for AFSIS’s Rice Growing Outlook (RGO)”. The meeting intends to discuss, share, and decide among AFSIS, JAXA, ISRO, and Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) on the upcoming virtual training program, which was raised to attention previously on the 27th session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-27). During the meeting, participants agreed that the training will focus on how to download the data from the MOSDAC program, view the map in QGIS program, and analyze the data obtained from the VEDAS platform to improve the use of agro-met and ALOS data utilization for RGO in the future. The training was planned to be held in July 2022. The meeting had ended with all the details were effectively discussed and agreed mutually by all parties involved.
