On 29 July 2026, the APEC Policy Partnership on Food Security (PPFS) successfully convened the APEC PPFS Webinar on Strategic Cooperation for Strengthening Food System Resilience via a virtual platform. The webinar was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) of the Republic of Korea as a self-funded PPFS project to promote strategic cooperation and knowledge exchange on strengthening food system resilience across APEC member economies.
The webinar brought together policymakers, researchers, international organizations, and stakeholders from APEC member economies to exchange perspectives on emerging food system challenges, policy responses, and international best practices. Discussions focused on strengthening resilience against disruptions in agricultural input and commodity supply chains while promoting evidence-based policies and public-private cooperation to support sustainable food systems.
The program featured four technical sessions covering 1) Understanding Food System Challenges and Opportunities for Resilience, 2) Status and Response Directions Across Key Food System Sectors,3) Global Best Policy Models for Food System Resilience, and 4) Korea's Efforts: The Case of the Agricultural Outlook Project. Experts from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) shared their experiences and policy recommendations on strengthening food system resilience through innovation, digital technologies, climate-smart agriculture, and evidence-based policymaking.
Throughout the webinar, speakers emphasized that resilient food systems require stronger regional cooperation, timely and transparent information sharing, and the application of science, technology, and innovation to support informed decision-making. Discussions also highlighted the importance of diversifying food supply chains, improving risk assessment and early warning systems, and integrating sustainability and resilience across the entire food system from agricultural production and logistics to markets and consumers to better address climate change, geopolitical uncertainties, and other emerging challenges.
The AFSIS Secretariat participated in the webinar as part of its continued engagement in regional and international cooperation on food security. The knowledge and experiences exchanged during the event will contribute to strengthening AFSIS activities in food security information, agricultural outlook, early warning systems, and regional collaboration to support more resilient and sustainable food systems in the Asia-Pacific region.
The webinar reaffirmed APEC's commitment to advancing the Food Security Roadmap Towards 2030 by promoting collaborative actions, innovative policy approaches, and strengthened partnerships among member economies to build resilient, sustainable, and inclusive food systems for the future.

The AFSIS Secretariat participated in the 10th International Conference on Agricultural Statistics (ICAS X), held from 8 to 10 July 2026 at the ICE Krakow Congress Centre in Krakow, Poland. Jointly organized by Statistics Poland, Eurostat, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the World Bank Group, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

On 24–25 June 2026, AFSIS Secretariat participated in the 46th Meeting of the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB) via a virtual conference. The Meeting was jointly organized by the AFSRB Secretariat and the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and was hosted in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
On 17–18 June 2026, the 24th AFSIS Focal Point Meeting was successfully convened via video conference, hosted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in collaboration with the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat.

The ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) Japan, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC), and Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), conducted the 2nd Hands-on Training Courses for Agricultural Statisticians, the Final Workshop, and the 2nd Seminar for Executive Officials under the JAIF Project entitled “Improvement of Rice Paddy Area Statistics and Damage Assessment using Earth Observation Satellites for ASEAN” in Sriracha, Chonburi Province, and Bangkok, Thailand.
