On 18 February 2026, the AFSIS Secretariat participated in the international event Google’s “Impact of AI on Global Agriculture,” organized by Google.org at Roseate House, Aerocity, New Delhi, India.

The event aimed to promote dialogue on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to advance sustainable and food-secure agricultural systems. It brought together senior government officials, research institutions, and international stakeholders to explore how AI-driven technologies can enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, and build climate resilience worldwide.

On this occasion, Dr. Sumanya Ngandee, AFSIS Manager, was invited as a panelist in the session “Agricultural Governance via Digital Public Infrastructure.” She shared perspectives on regional cooperation mechanisms and the application of agricultural data systems and digital technologies in supporting evidence-based ASEAN food security information. She also exchanged updates on regional production situations and technological advancements in agricultural early warning systems, while sharing experiences on recent scientific and AI innovationsparticularly developments by Google DeepMind in agricultural landscape analysis, crop monitoring, and the detection of agricultural conditions through the integration of satellite imagery and advanced data analytics.

The event formed part of the broader “AI Impact Summit 2026”, hosted by the Government of India, which convened high-level government leaders, global research institutions, and key stakeholders from Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The summit underscored how foundational AI models are transitioning from scientific research to real-world implementation, addressing pressing challenges in food security and climate resilience, while also examining economic opportunities and structural risks associated with AI deployment.

The AFSIS Secretariat will apply the knowledge and insights gained from this event to further integrate AI technologies into its operational framework, strengthen regional cooperation, and enhance the development and dissemination of food security information systems across ASEAN Member States.
